The role

Consulting Veterinary Surgeon – Wallasey/New Ferry

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced vet to join our Parkside practices on the Wirral.

Parkside Veterinary Practice has recently joined our group and this is a very exciting time to come and join our team. Parkside at over forty years old, sits in the heart of the pet-owning communities it serves. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide the best veterinary care possible in both patient and client-centred manners. We have an established, loyal, but still expanding client base, and we are looking for a caring, veterinary surgeon who has a passion for both patient, and client care, and a desire to deliver the best client journey possible. The role will be consulting mainly in our lovely branch Wallasey with times working with the team at the main New Ferry site.

The clinical director, Dugie Gemmill has been with us for over thirty years and still promotes and supports both his own and the veterinary team’s clinical and personal development. The practice has a super surgical reputation offering orthopaedics and having delivered laparoscopic surgery for over twelve years. Our vets have always been encouraged, and actively supported in the development of their own interests.

From receptionists, to nurses, the vets and of course the clients, we are a family and a happy, professional team!

The Wirral is a fantastic area to live in. A mixture of rural and urban with great schools and access to amenities – the beautiful North Wales coast and Snowdonia, two international airports (Liverpool and Manchester), all within an hour, and of course the bright lights of the vibrant city of Liverpool!

Salary including accommodation/vehicle allowance up to £55,000 dependent on experience for 4-day week
Small Animal practice with a varied caseload.
Work alongside our other experienced Vets – support with cases and case discussions encouraged
Have a passion for delivering outstanding care to your patients, as well as a first-class service to your clients with a focus on case continuity.
Experienced nursing team and Practice Manager.
The role is full time working 39 hours per week over 4 days
5 weeks annual leave plus bank holidays
CPD allowance of £1,500 plus 3 days CPD leave
VDS, RCVS, BVA fees paid

If required sponsorship, Visa fee will be fully paid as well as the yearly NHS surcharge

The practice is equipped with the latest facilities, as well as our in-house services at New Ferry you will also get access to all the services available across the entire Medivet group.
Access to diploma level imaging and inhouse surgical referral for more complex cases

Skills and experience

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ UK small animal practice (or UK equivalent) experience. You must have a client-oriented approach and excellent communication skills, work to a very high standard both medically and surgically and have the drive and ambition to help develop this practice further.

You will be confident working sole charge with the ability to make sound clinical judgement, however you will have the support of many other practices in the region.
